For a fascinating trekking destination to take a break from mundane life, Nag Tibba in the surroundings of Garhwal in Uttarakhand is flawless. It is the highest peak in lesser Himalayas, roughly situated at an altitude of 9915 ft. It is perfect for a short weekend trek. It is considered suitable for beginners and children as it has relatively easy routes and posses no threat of altitude sickness. The total stretch of the Nagtibba Trek is around 16 km. Monsoon season turns the place into pleasant yet cool weather, whereas during winters the peaks are covered with the blanket of snow. February to June and then from September to December is considered the best time to visit Nag Tibba.

Nag Tibba which means serpent’s Peak, is among the three principal ranges of the Lesser The Himalayas, which includes the Dhauladhar and the Pir Panjal. It is believed to be home for ‘Nag Devta’ (God of Snakes). This is where the first part of the name Nag is related too. It has a temple on the peak top where local villagers come to prayer to Nag Devta to offer protection of their livestock. The Nagtibba Trek  a circular trek which has different starting and ending points.

The best thing one can get involved at this trek is Camping experience. Camping at the base camp will is like the cherry on the cake. It will let you admire the sky and gaze at the twinkling stars. The Nagtibba Trek will start from the base camp to the dedicated temple of Nag Devta to the Nag Tibba Top (summit) and then back to the base camp.

How to reach Nag Tibba from Delhi

Nag Tibba is around 347 km from Delhi. It well connected by road, air, and railways.

By Road: There are two options by road. Either you can travel in your own car or travel through the bus. People usually prefer to take the bus to reach their destination. There is regular bus service available from Delhi which takes around 8 hours to reach Dehradun. You can hire a taxi from there to Pantwari village. Or you can directly take a bus to Pantwari village. From this point, Nag Tibba Trek is just 8 Kms.

By Train: Dehradun Railway Station is the nearest station for your destination. From the station you can hire a taxi.

By Air: The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport situated in Dehradun. You can travel either of the above ways to reach Nag Tibba.
