Pahalgam is connected to the yearly Amarnath Yatra visit to the shrine. 16 kilometres (9.9 miles) from Pahalgam is Chandanwari. The village serves as the beginning point for the annual yatra, which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors throughout the months of July and August.
